Last week many of us in the Midwest were slammed with extremely frigid temperatures on account of the polar vortex. Locally, we hit close to -35°F (-37°C), and I read that at some point in time during those few days, Chicago was colder than Antarctica! Can you imagine?!
During those insanely cold days, we found ourselves trying to keep warm by guzzling all things warm. This meant endless cups of chai, coffee, and hot chocolate.
I had a jar of my homemade vanilla bean caramel saucein my refrigerator, and decided to experiment by adding some to one of our hot chocolate rotations, because if there’s one thing I know, it’s that caramel+chocolate=deliciousness. And boy was I right! The recipe is so simple, and can easily be made with either homemade or store bought caramel sauce. Give it a shot and let me know what you think!
